The City of South Hutchinson is looking to hire a City Clerk. Primary duties include accounting, human resources and records management. Experience in accounting is necessary. Under the supervision of the City Administrator, the City Clerk is an exempt position under FLSA. Primary responsibilities include financial management, human resources and records management. The City Clerk attends City Council meetings and assists in the preparation of the agenda.
Core duties include:
Works under the general supervision of the City Administrator and supervises the utility billing clerk
Maintains minutes of council meeting. Serves as accountant preparing payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Provides Human Resource services to city staff, which includes orientation and maintaining personnel records. Prepares daily bank deposits and handles investment for the city.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Skill in operating PC and network computers, printers, scanners, and fax machines; learning multiple computer software applications; proper telephone etiquette and operation of telephone systems; analyzing data and information; producing high quality, high quantity result. Ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment and to act resourcefully under varying conditions; work well with fellow employees, supervisors, and members of the public; communicate effectively in writing and verbally; learn and recall quickly; maintain composure and confidentiality.
Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid Kansas driver’s license without record of suspension or revocation in any state.
The job may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, standing, bending and stooping for prolonged periods of time; using various office equipment including a computer screen and keyboard.
