Nickerson, USD 309, is Reno County's third largest school district with nearly 1,500 students. It serves the community's of South Hutchinson, Nickerson and surrounding rural areas. In April of 1995, Nickerson High School students participated in the 1994/1995 Odyssey of the Mind World Championship held in Nashville, Tenn., finishing in second place. About 60 percent of NHS graduates go on to further their education.
