South Hutchinson has a mayor/council form of government with a mayor and 5 council members elected for four year terms, with three elected every 2 years. Each year in May, the council elects one member to serve a one year term as mayor. Council meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the City office at 2 South Main, South Hutchinson.

The City of South Hutchinson's current projects include construction of a new wastewater treatment facility beginning in April 2002.
Another new project is the grant received by the South Hutchinson Volunteer Fire Dept. to provide free smoke detectors and mailbox numbers to all South Hutchinson citizens. If you are interested in both or either stop by the City Hall at 2 South Main to fill out an application.
New Public Safety Building - Opened in April 2002

The new public safety building, located at 10 E. Blanchard, houses the South Hutchinson Police Department, the South Hutchinson Volunteer Fire Department and municipal court facilities.
